Altering width of synthetic leather boots?

I bought a pair of knee high leather boots second hand - however they are too wide a fit in the leg - although I love the style. The base of the boot, around the foot is leather, but the section around the leg is a synthetic leather. I have checked in a few shoe repair shops and they say they could alter them, but the stitching would rip, as they%26#039;re synthetic and they don%26#039;t have the right machine to sew them. Does anyone know of anywhere in London where you can have repairs done to synthetic leather?

Not sure whether they%26#039;re still there...or whether they can do the job.
